India's first ATM on a train had a successful trial run, inside an AC coach of the Panchavati Express that operates between Manmad in Nashik and Mumbai. The trial went off smoothly with Indian Railways planning to take steps to implement the kiosks on trains.
The ATM initiative is a collaboration between the Bhusawal division of the Railways and Bank of Maharashtra, under the Innovative and Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (INFRIS). While the trial was done on an AC coach, Railways plans to extend it to all the coaches of the train through vestibules in the future.
