Bhubaneswar, Feb. 25 -- In a huge set back to the left wing extremists, at least three Maoists were killed in a gun battle with security personnel on Odisha border.

As per reports, the ultras were neutralised at Kanker district in Chhattisgarh on Sunday morning.

After getting an information from reliable sources about the presence of Maoists in Koyalibeda forest, a joint team of CRPF and Kanker police launched a massive operation in the area.

Subsequently, an exchange of fire broke out between the security forces and Maoists which lasted for nearly two hours.

As per reports, the Maoists retreated from the area following an intense firing by the security personnel.
