India, Feb. 6 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi tabled a demand for over Rs 12.59 Lakh Crore during the meeting of the 16th Finance Commission with senior State government officials in Bhubaneswar, on Thursday.
The proposals aimed at addressing the financial requirements for the State's five-year developmental plan spanning 2026 to 2031.
The CM advocated for an entire central funding commitment to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), which currently sees 75 per cent footing by the Central government and the remaining 25 per cent by the State. Given Odisha's susceptibility to frequent natural disasters, the CM urged the Central government to shoulder the full contribution.
