Bhubaneswar, Feb. 2 -- A truck labourer was killed, and the driver sustained critical injuries after a 16-wheeler truck plunged off a bridge in Odisha's Sundargarh district late on Sunday night. The accident occurred on the Jamunanaki bridge under the jurisdiction of Biramitrapur police station.

According to preliminary reports, the truck lost control after hitting the divider on the bridge and fell into the Sankh River below. The impact proved fatal for a labourer travelling in the vehicle, who died on the spot. The driver was seriously injured in the mishap and was rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
