Bhubaneswar, Feb. 14 -- Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named Ashwini Vaishnaw as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha election from Odisha on Wednesday, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) announced its support for Vaishnaw's candidature. The state unit of Congress sealed the opportunity to slam what it called 'BJP-BJD bonhomie'.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the newly-appointed in-charge of the Odisha Congress, Ajoy Kumar wrote, "BJP-BJD bonhomie! The 'Tactical Larger plan' of the two erstwhile 'married alliance' is on the move!."

Kumar further said that the BJD has always backed the BJP.
