Hong Kong, Feb. 27 -- Hong Kong will increase its airport departure tax by 67%, to HK$200 (US$26), from the third quarter of this year. Read More Hong Kong financial secretary, Paul Chan, announced the rate rise in his 2025 budget speech on February 26. "It is anticipated government revenue will increase by HK$1.6 billion per year [from the increased tax]. The impact on air passengers is expected to be minimal," Chan said. The higher tax will apply to tickets purchased after October 1.
