Sambalpur/Balasore, Oct. 28 -- More than 100 shops were gutted at two different places in Odisha due to fire mishap during Diwali night yesterday.

A major fire broke out at a vegetable market at Golbazar in Sambalpur late last night damaging around 100 shops. Huge stocks of vegetables were reduced to ashes in the blaze.

On being informed, Fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames. No casualties have been reported in the incident. Though the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that fire broke out from a diya which was lit near a shop on the occasion of Diwali.
