Jaleswar, March 21 -- After being denied ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections, former Jaleswar MLA Debi Prasanna Chand today resigned from Congress expressing displeasure over the party's functioning and negligence towards him.

The ex-legislator sent his resignation latter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik alleging that the party is no more working for the people and and it has turned out to be a business unit.

"I have been sincerely working as a disciplined member of the Congress since 1992. But the party has sidelined me," said Chand in his resignation.
