Bhubaneswar, June 6 -- Urging the media not to spread rumours about cyclones, renowned Odia scientist Mrityunjay Mohapatra, who was appointed as Director General (DG) of India Meteorological Department (IMD), said astrologers can't predict natural disasters such as cyclonic storms, drought, earthquake, thunderstorms or lightning, among others.

Speaking to Odisha Sun Times, Mohapatra, known as 'Cyclone man of India' for his accurate forecasts on cyclones including Phailin (2013), Hudhud (2014) and Titli (2018), said people and media should believe what meteorologists say when it comes to prediction of cyclones, not astrologers.
