Guwahati, May 25 -- Tripura police have arrested a youth in West Tripura district in connection with the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl.

The West Agartala Women Police made the arrest on Saturday, following a complaint filed by the victim's mother.

According to police sources, the incident reportedly took place on May 9 when the young girl was visiting a neighbor's house.

Preliminary investigation suggest that the accused allegedly threatened the minor, warning her against disclosing the crime. Out of fear, the girl remained silent until May 17, when she began experiencing physical problems and subsequently confided in her mother.
