Guwahati, Aug. 10 -- The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has responded to allegations made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who blamed the university for exacerbating the recent flash floods in Guwahati.

CM Sarma claimed that USTM's construction had disrupted the natural water flow, leading to severe flooding in the city.

However, USTM responding to the CM's statement said that it was committed to sustainability and environmental practices, stating that its campus has extensive water harvesting systems and afforestation drives in place.
