Agartala, April 19 -- The electoral process for the initial phase in the West Parliamentary Constituency of Tripura commenced at 7 am, bolstered by stringent security measures. By 3 pm, the voter turnout stood at 68.11 per cent.

According to reports from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, there were some instances of EVM malfunctioning in certain polling stations during the early hours. However, these issues were promptly addressed.

"The election proceedings, commencing at 7 am, encountered EVM malfunctions, promptly resolved. Fortunately, no instances of violence have been reported thus far. The voter turnout stood at 15.9 per cent by 9 am and surged to 68.11 per cent by 3 pm," stated the source.
