India, Jan. 29 -- Assam Rifles on Tuesday destroyed an illicit ganja plantation spread across more than 58 acres in the Boxanagar area of Tripura's Sepahijala district, officials said.
The operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs on illegal cannabis cultivation, about 41 km south of Agartala. A column of Assam Rifles conducted the action jointly with the Sepahijala district police, Tripura State Rifles and the Forest Department.
During the coordinated drive, security personnel uprooted and destroyed around 1,45,000 ganja saplings cultivated across multiple plots. The seized crop was estimated to be worth approximately Rs 14.5 crore, according to official assessments.
