India, Jan. 26 -- Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized yaba tablets worth an estimated Rs 16 crore in Tripura's Khowai district.
The operation was launched based on specific information regarding the movement of narcotics through the district. During the late-night operation on January 24, the joint team intercepted a Tata truck on National Highway-8 and recovered 1.6 lakh yaba tablets from the vehicle.
One person, a local of Assam's Karimganj district, was apprehended in connection with the seizure, officials said, adding that the truck used to transport the contraband was also seized.
