INDIA, Dec. 4 -- The Tezpur University (TU) fraternity has strongly rejected Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's recent statement regarding the ongoing campus crisis, insisting that their demand for an Acting Vice Chancellor remains unchanged.

The Chief Minister's suggestion to appoint a Pro-Vice Chancellor, the fraternity said, reflects a misunderstanding of their long-standing demand. "We want an Acting Vice Chancellor, not a Pro-VC," the fraternity emphasized, adding that silence from the state leadership during the 76-day turmoil had only worsened the situation.
