Aizawl, Sept. 13 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, September 13, 2025, inaugurated Mizoram's first-ever railway line and flagged off the state's maiden Rajdhani Express, linking Aizawl with Delhi.
The Bairabi-Sairang railway line, built at a cost of Rs 8,070 crore, is considered one of the most challenging projects in the history of Indian Railways.
Sanctioned in 2008-09, construction of the line began in 2015.
The railway route features 45 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 87 minor bridges, highlighting the engineering challenges overcome to connect the northeastern state with the national capital.
