India, Nov. 10 -- The Nagaland government, in collaboration with the British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata, will commemorate Remembrance Day at the Kohima War Cemetery, maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, on Tuesday.

Remembrance Day, also known as Poppy Day due to the tradition of wearing a remembrance poppy, is observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty.

The day is also observed in several non-Commonwealth countries as a tribute to war heroes.

In most countries, Remembrance Day is marked on November 11 to commemorate the end of hostilities in the First World War.
