India, Jan. 16 -- Mizoram suffered a financial loss of Rs 114.64 crore due to the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in 2025, with 9,711 pigs dying and 3,620 more culled to prevent the disease's spread.
According to Esther Lalzoliani Ralte, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department, the outbreak affected 3,867 families between March and December last year. This is a significant decrease from the previous year, when the state suffered Rs 336.4 crore in ASF-related damages, Rs 221 crore more than in 2025.
