India, Jan. 21 -- Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii on Tuesday suggested that the Northeast be referred to as a "land-linked" region instead of "landlocked," highlighting the significant improvements in connectivity over the years.

Speaking at the international conference on "Northeast India at the Crossroads: Inclusion, Culture and a Sustainable Future" in Bengaluru, Lalrinpuii noted that projects such as the Agartala-Akhaura railway line, the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport project, and the Asian Highway have enhanced the region's connectivity.

She encouraged the youth to adopt the term "land-linked" when referring to the Northeast.
