India, Jan. 13 -- Mizoram's opposition Congress on Monday released the first list of its candidates for elections to the 19-member Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC), the date of which is yet to be announced by the State Election Commission.

State Congress president Lal Thanzara declared the names of 13 candidates for the upcoming municipal polls during a function marking the opening of the Congress Bhavan for the current year. The ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), the main opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) and other parties are yet to announce their candidates.

Speaking on the occasion, Lal Thanzara urged party workers to remain committed to the party and not lose morale even if it faces tough times and electoral setbacks.
