India, Dec. 22 -- The Meghalaya government has approved a major road project worth Rs 265 crore to construct a 47-km stretch from Phlangwanbroi in East Khasi Hills to Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills.

The project is expected to enhance connectivity and boost tourism in the region.

Mawsynram MLA Ollan Sing Suin told reporters on Sunday that the new road will link with the intermediate road at Ranikor and pass through two constituencies.

About 27 km of the road will be in Mawsynram constituency, while the remaining 20 km will run through Ranikor.

Suin added that the tender for the project is expected to be issued this week. He clarified that the road will be constructed under a regular state scheme and is not funded by the World Bank....
