India, Jan. 10 -- A mob attack killed an NGO member in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district on Friday evening. Police arrested three people and tightened security in Goalgaon village under the Rajabala constituency.

The district administration imposed a night curfew to prevent further violence and maintain law and order.

Dilseng M Sangma, the victim was a member of the Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK), a Garo civil society organisation.

Officials said Sangma was part of a group of 10-12 ACHIK members present in Goalgaon when a mob allegedly attacked them. The assault also left another NGO member seriously injured. Doctors are treating the injured person at a hospital.
