Guwahati, March 21 -- In a significant setback to the Regional United Democratic Party (UDP) in Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, some prominent party leaders have announced their exit from the party to join the National People's Party (NPP).

Donbok Khymdeit, the Working President of the UDP State Wing and Ri Bhoi District Unit along with several top UDP party leaders and members switch sides to the NPP.

Khymdeit clarified that the decision to leave UDP and discontinue coordination was reached independently by these leaders, devoid of any issues or disruptions within the UDP party structure.
