India, Jan. 4 -- The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) reported that crimes against women and children increased in 2025 compared to the previous year, 2024, in the state.

MSCW Chairperson Tiningpham Monsang said a total of 61 cases of crimes against women and children were reported in 2025, against 48 cases in 2024.

The MSCW had also registered 58 cases in 2023, 78 in 2022 and 84 in 2021. The latest crime against a woman occurred in Imphal West district in late December 2025. Khaidem (Ongbi) Chaoba Devi (26), a resident of Wangoi Mamang Khaidem in Imphal West, Manipur, who was reported missing on December 26, 2025, was later found dead under suspicious circumstances.
