Imphal, May 24 -- In a move designed to strengthen the historical tie between Manipur and West Bengal, the state Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday assured to extend all possible assistance to renovate Sri Sri Anumahaprabhu Mandir complex at Nabadwip in West Bengal.

The Governor's assistance is in line with the historical link between Manipur and West Bengal since 1797.

In 1797 Manipur king Bhagya Chandra Singh undertook a pilgrimage to Nabadwip, the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in whose name a temple, popularly known as ' Sri Sri Anumahaprabhu Mandir', was built inside 'Manipur Rajkunja' for his devotees and other pilgrims.

Since then hundreds of pilgrims from Manipur visited Nabadwip annually.
