India, Feb. 4 -- A team of the Narcotics and Affairs of Border foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from Manipur to Assam by arresting a 46-year-old man and seizing 15.556 kilograms of brown sugar from the North AOC area under Imphal Police Station in Manipur's Imphal West district.

A Tata truck bearing an Assam registration number was also impounded.

Md Sabir Ahamed (46), a resident of Lilong Nungei in Thoubal district, was arrested on February 2, 2026, based on information received about banned drugs being transported from Lilong Nungei to Guwahati in a truck, police reported on Wednesday.
