India, Nov. 27 -- Unearthing a major attempt by insurgents to misguide youth and lure them into joining outlawed groups, Manipur Police succeeded in preventing a young boy from being recruited into a militant organisation.
Police reported that the 18-year-old had been in contact with an underground outfit and was being enticed by the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup-Socialist Revolutionary Party (KYKL-SOREPA) for recruitment. The youth, identified as Thangjam Avinash Singh, also known as Amuba/Picktru (18), was arrested from the Porompat area in Imphal East district on Wednesday night. Police accused him of helping the outfit in recruiting new cadres. One mobile phone was seized from his possession.
