India, Nov. 24 -- A joint team from the central and state security forces arrested a drug peddler during a frisking operation at the Moirang Police Station gate checkpoint in Manipur's Bishnupur district.

The team recovered heroin powder reportedly transported from the southern Churachandpur district.

With this, a total of three heroin peddlers were arrested along with over one kilogram of drugs worth over Rs 10 lakhs in the current state black market, the police reported on Monday.

The drug peddler, named Sheikh Basir Ahamad, a resident of Lilong Nungei, Thoubal district, was captured along with three soap cases containing approximately 74 grams of heroin powder on Sunday.
