India, Dec. 26 -- Manipur Police, continuing its drive against drug smugglers/peddlers, has arrested an alleged drug smuggler in the jurisdiction of the Heingang Police Station in the Imphal East district, and seized a substantial quantity of banned narcotic substances.
The arrest and seizure were made when trying to smuggle the illegal items to their counterparts in Assam on Thursday. The seized items originated from Myanmar, the police reported on Friday.
On getting reliable information, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force of the Heingang police station raided a tip and arrested the individual along with 24 soap cases of different colours containing heroin (drug) weighing around 310 grammes worth around Rs 3 lakhs in the regional markets.
