INDIA, Dec. 1 -- Indian security forces in Manipur uncovered a cross-border smuggling racket, recovering approximately 6,477 bottles of illegal liquor and 400 cigarette packets, and arresting two associates of foreign-based smugglers.
In a series of operations conducted at the T. Bungmol Junction under Moreh police station in Manipur's Tengnoupal district, two smugglers were arrested on Friday, according to official reports issued on Monday.
The arrested individuals are Thangjamang Haokip (26), a resident of Yangoubung Village, Moreh, and Haumuanlal Zou (35), a resident of Lhanghoi Village, Tengnoupal.
A two-wheeler used for transporting the illicit articles was also impounded.
