India, Jan. 8 -- An armed attack occurred at Kharam Vaiphei village in Manipur's Kangpokpi district involving gunfire and explosives, causing property damage and distress among residents.

The attack drew strong condemnation from the Kuki Inpi South-West Sadar Hills and the Kharam Vaiphei Village Authority.

According to both bodies, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. when unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire and set off explosive devices within the village.

No casualties were reported, but several homes were damaged, leaving villagers in fear and distress.

The Kuki Inpi South-West Sadar Hills described the attack as 'deeply disturbing and unacceptable,' calling the violence under President's Rule a serious matter.
