India, Jan. 2 -- Security forces dismantled a temporary camp allegedly set up by suspected anti-social elements/insurgents and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives during a counter-insurgency operation in Manipur, police reported on Friday.
Law enforcers unearthed hidden weapons at the Langdum Nungjengbi area and surrounding locations under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district during a flash operation carried out over the past 36 hours. A sniffer dog was also deployed to detect explosives and other military-grade items. Sensing the approaching security forces, the insurgents fled the area.
Though no arrests were made, the security forces concluded the operation with the recovery of the following items:
