India, Jan. 26 -- A joint security team comprising central and state police intensified anti-insurgency operations, seizing arms, ammunition, and explosives along the Manipur-Assam border on the eve of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, officials said on Sunday.
Acting on specific inputs about concealed weapons, the joint forces launched the operation on January 25, 2026, at the foothills of Jairolpokpi village in Manipur's Jiribam district, which borders Assam to the west.
No arrests were made, but a temporary camp allegedly set up by anti-social elements was busted. Following a thorough search of the site, security personnel recovered a large cache of arms and military equipment.
