India, Nov. 27 -- A fire broke out on Thursday in Paldai Village, Sajik Tampak, in Manipur's Chandel district, bordering Myanmar on the south, destroying properties worth thousands of rupees, officials said.
The incident occurred around 1100 hours at the tin-roofed semi-pucca house owned by Khuplamlian, a tribal resident of Paldai Village, who was away at the time.
The fire, fuelled by dry weather and the village's compact layout, destroyed several household items, including books, utensils, tables, and chairs.
The blaze posed an immediate threat to nearby homes and raised fears of a larger catastrophe.
