IMPHAL, April 23 -- Thousands of members of the Arambai Tengol, a Meitei radical organization in Manipur, clad in black attire, gathered to renewed their "commitment to safeguarding and preserving" the territorial integrity of the Northeast state.

Korounganba Khuman, the commander-in-chief of the Arambai Tengol, led the ceremony, where thousands of followers re-affirmed their vows on the occasion of the 133rd anniversary of the Khongjom War, Manipur's final battle for independence.

Arambai Tengol activists paid tributes to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in Manipur's last war of independence, known as the "Khongjom War", fought against the British in 1891 to uphold freedom.
