Guwahati, March 1 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting to review the security situation in Manipur on Saturday for the first time since the imposition of President's rule, officials said.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka and other senior officials attend the meeting.
Manipur has endured severe hardship due to the ethnic violence that erupted in May 2023, which has claimed over 250 lives.
President's rule imposed in Manipur with effect from February 13, after N Biren Singh resigned as Chief Minister.
The government has placed the state assembly under suspended animation, originally supposed to serve until 2027.
