India, Nov. 21 -- In ongoing anti-narcotics operations, law enforcement agencies of the Indian Union detected three additional locations where illegal poppy cultivation was taking place clandestinely in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Thursday.
The Kangpokpi district is predominantly inhabited by the Kuki-Zo community, and police reported that many residents engage in illegal cultivation to earn quick money.
The operations, carried out by a joint team of Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF, resulted in the detection and destruction of illegal poppy cultivation in Songlung village under Kangpokpi Police Station.
