India, Dec. 30 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday urged voters in Assam to back a government in the forthcoming Assembly elections that would act decisively against infiltration while fast-tracking the state's development.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the 5,000-capacity Jyoti-Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir auditorium here, Shah said the March-April Assembly polls would be pivotal for Assam's future.

"In the elections next year, people should elect a government that stops infiltration and works relentlessly for Assam's progress," he said, appealing to voters to give the BJP another five-year mandate. Shah asserted that a BJP government would ensure that "every infiltrator is identified and sent back."
