Guwahati, Sept. 9 -- India on Tuesday urged Indians in Nepal to stay cautious amid violent unrest that has claimed 19 lives and injured hundreds.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said New Delhi is closely watching the situation and advised citizens to follow local authorities' instructions.

"We are closely monitoring developments in Nepal since yesterday and deeply mourn the loss of many young lives. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased, and we wish a speedy recovery for those injured," the ministry stated.
