India, Nov. 21 -- An Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas fighter jet crashed on Friday afternoon while performing an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show, around 2:10 pm local time.

The pilot lost his life in the incident, the IAF confirmed.

IAF Statement In an official statement, the IAF said a court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the crash.

"An IAF Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family. A court of inquiry is being constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident," the Air Force spokesperson said.
