Guwahati, June 3 -- Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi officially assumed the role of Assam Congress president on Tuesday, stepping into a pivotal leadership position as the party prepares for the crucial state assembly polls in 2026.

The state unit unanimously backed his elevation, recognizing his leadership capabilities and strong academic background.
