Elderly voter hit by bullet at polling station in Manipur, three arrested
Imphal, April 19 -- An elderly man who came to cast his vote at a polling station sustained a bullet injury when an unknown armed miscreate opened fire at around 2 pm on Friday at Moirangkambpu under the Khurai assembly segment in Imphal East district.
Three persons reportedly involved in the shooting incident were arrested along with a small firearm and live bullets, the police said.
The elderly man received a bullet injury on his left chest when a group of miscreants disturbed the polling at Moirangkampu.
He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The first phase of elections to the two Lok Sabha Seats in Manipur held on Friday witnessed disturbing violence among the voters and officials.
