India, Jan. 2 -- Banks in several parts of Northeast India, including Mizoram's Aizawl, will remain closed today, Friday, January 2, 2026, on account of New Year's celebrations and Mannam Jayanthi, following the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) 2026 holiday calendar.
According to the RBI, banks in the region observe holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which includes regional and national holidays, in addition to the mandatory weekly closures on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month. Citizens are advised to check branch-specific schedules before planning in-person visits.
