GUWAHATI, March 14 -- Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled plans for a significant governance overhaul in the state, emphasizing accountability and efficiency among government employees.

Addressing reporters, Sarma announced measures to penalize employees for delays in processing public applications, marking Assam as the pioneer state in ensuring such accountability.

Sarma detailed the establishment of a dedicated body tasked with addressing complaints from the public regarding delays in government office work.
