India, Feb. 5 -- Assam's Kiuchenghan Phukon has created history by becoming the world's youngest swimmer to swim from Elephanta Island to the Gateway of India, Maharashtra.

She is also the first female swimmer from Northeast India to complete a swim in the Arabian Sea.

Covering the 13 km distance in just 3 hours and 29 minutes, Kiuchenghan made the entire state of Assam proud.

Kiuchenghan trains at the Dr Zakir Hussain Aquatic Complex and Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, Sarusajai, Guwahati, under the guidance of coach Babul Gurung.

The Assam Swimming Association Secretary, Bhaskar Das, congratulated Kiuchenghan on her remarkable achievement.
