Guwahati, May 17 -- A joint meeting of Assam and Meghalaya officials resolved to hold peace in border villages of West Karbi Anglong district of Assam and West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya.

The meeting resolved that the entry tax gate be set up by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) at Khanduli to be allowed by both sides.

The gate was burnt down by a group of miscreants from the Meghalaya side on April 17, 2023.

The meeting also decided that both the Assam and Meghalaya administrations would stop encroachment on forest land from the Meghalaya side.

It was resolved that Khasi people living on the Assam side would have to obtain a land document from KAAC authorities. Simultaneously, Karbi people living on the Meghalaya side ...
