India, Feb. 11 -- A day after the Election Commission published the final electoral rolls for Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said a large number of D-voters (doubtful voters) had been removed during the Special Revision exercise.
Speaking at a press conference in Dispur on Wednesday, Sarma said the deletions followed complaints submitted by BJP workers. He claimed the revision was conducted "despite threats and intimidation".
"This is only the beginning. More such names will be deleted once the Special Intensive Revision is carried out," he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which he had earlier sought to initiate before the Assembly elections, would be undertaken at a later stage....
