Guwahati, July 30 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday asserted that his government had successfully removed illegal encroachments from the Rengma Reserve Forest in Golaghat district.
In a strongly worded statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister wrote:
"We are on a mission to reclaim what rightfully belongs to us.Our forests, our lands, our Satras, our agricultural fields-we are going all out to ensure that only legitimate Indian citizens enjoy the joy of being in Assam.Rengma Reserve Forest - now ENCROACHMENT FREE."
Sarma's post followed the completion of the first phase of eviction operations on July 29 in Uriamghat, a sensitive region bordering Nagaland.
