India, Dec. 7 -- The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan on Sunday evening, approved a series of key decisions, including land transfer for a new airport, implementation of a logistics policy, and major educational reforms.
In a significant move, the Cabinet approved the transfer of 3,000 bighas of land at Doloo Tea Estate in Silchar to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the construction of a greenfield airport. The decision will now enable the proposal to move to the Union Cabinet for final approval.
The state government also cleared the allotment of land to 1,200 families under Mission Basundhara, aimed at resolving land-related issues across Assam.
