India, Feb. 3 -- A young woman was killed instantly in a road accident near the Gauhati High Court late Monday night.

The incident occurred in front of the Chief Justice's official residence when the car reportedly collided with a road divider, resulting in the fatal crash.

The deceased has been identified as Niha Das, a resident of the Fatasil Ambari area in Guwahati.

Police officials said three young men were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver has been taken into custody for questioning, while the other two passengers fled the scene immediately after the crash.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact circumstances and cause of the accident.
